ABOUT THE FAMILY:
This hard-working family became parents a bit later in life. Their child is almost 2 years old. Dad and mom both work from home part-time and have flexible schedules. They balance their time between their two homes, travel, and their child’s care. They enjoy evenings out and weekend golf and activities. Their desire is to have a nanny provide the added support to maintain this balance long-term. They have 2 cats that are like family to them and travel with them from home to home.
The child will be 2 when this job starts. They are very affectionate and compassionate. They want to hug everything they see. They are confident, curious, and a happy child with an amazing sense of humor and playful personality. They are an observer and love watching how people interact and how other children play, then likes to mimic them. They express their needs freely, can speak in sentences, and loves to try new words daily. They love to read books, draw, go to parks, take long walks, and love to swim on a weekly basis. Starting in September, they will attend a local preschool three times a week for socialization. They are a good eater and try new foods with joy. They sleep through the night with an established sleep routine and take a nap or has quiet time in the afternoon. Since they were three months old, they have been traveling abroad and within the United States with their parents. They love airplanes and exploring the world!
THEIR IDEAL NANNY:
They are looking for a nanny who is joyful and a positive demeanor individual who is passionate about their role in providing childcare to their toddler. Their ideal nanny will be educationally focused with a preference to Montessori style, organized, can work independently, and is a problem solver. They are looking for a nanny who is a proactive thinker and will plan ahead for events and trips. The nanny should be a team player who is thoughtful and considerate of the family dynamics, who is dependable, consistent, and good at communicating. Professionalism is key to a clear understanding of boundaries and a strong sense of respect for the family’s privacy. Their nanny must be able to swim and go in the water with their child. They should be prepared to be physically active, navigate stairs, and in general, chase after a toddler. They should be able to prepare healthy meals and encourage healthy eating habits. Their nanny should be outgoing and curious about each location, seeking ways to provide the toddler with socialization, exploration, and building a community. Their nanny should be able to adapt to change and help the toddler adapt to each environment as well.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Responsibilities would include providing educational play and training with a focus on non-technology activities that encourage self-play. Researching, signing up, transporting, and attending activities for the child, managing clothing and gear, and preparing healthy food. Their nanny will also be responsible for creating social experiences (i.e. play dates) for the child in each location to grow the child’s community and establish friendships. The family likes to follow Montessori style parenting, with an aim to promote exploration, leadership, independence, and individuality from a very early age. They like to follow a structured daily approach, with predictable routines to promote a sense of safety and stability for their child. They encourage time outside, exploring nature, sports, arts and crafts, and reading books.
Other Responsibilities: Utilizing nap times to do some household management duties like: cleaning child spaces, loading/unloading dishwasher, wiping kitchen counter, taking trash and recycling out, breaking down recycling boxes, bringing recycling bins to the curb and bringing them back, unpacking groceries and baby supplies when delivered, assisting with laundry folding, and some pet care when parents are away.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Mature professional who has extensive knowledge of toddler care, preferably with a background in children’s education or development
College degree
5-10+ years’ experience as a full-time nanny
Extensive experience with toddlers
Career live-in nanny
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- More than 2 years professional experience
- Professional experience with toddlers
CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Current Infant/Child CPR/First Aid Certification
HEALTH REQUIREMENTS:
- Non-smoker
- Strong swimmer
DRIVING REQUIREMENTS:
- Valid driver’s license
- Clear DMV driving record
