ABOUT THE FAMILY:
This family is super loving and engaging. Dad is described as quiet, yet engaging, kind, and supportive. Mom is more outgoing, funny, and loving. Both parents work from home and have a great system in place that lets their child know they are “going to work”. They appreciate an understanding of multiculturalism and language since both English and Mandarin are spoken in their home.
Their child is 3 y/o and is a thriving typical toddler. Their child is bilingual and knows the difference between the two languages (Mandarin and English). They are a great sleeper both for naps and at night and have been since they were 4 months old. The family has created a structured and predictable daily routine that has supported their child thrives on. Their toddler is bright, eager to learn and do new things, loves to help with chores, enjoys food, and is excited about the world! They are currently working on toilet training. Their child likes to walk around the neighborhood, to the park, or do other physical activities after breakfast. When home they enjoy reading books, singing, playing with Duplos, trucks, water play, watercolor painting, coloring, and playing with trains. This toddler also loves going to the library, zoo, and Play Street Museum. Their family refrains from using screens of any sort except for taking photos. Their child refers to all phones as “cameras.”
There are 2 cats that are very much a part of their home and family.
THEIR IDEAL NANNY:
They are looking for a nanny as a coach or guide. Someone with patience and the ability to redirect attention when needed. Someone who can see when their child is frustrated and can help them understand their feelings, help them collect themselves, and work on the task at hand or redirect to something else. They would like a nanny who can teach their child new concepts, cook with them, be creative and try new things. It’s important that the nanny have patience to allow their child to do things on their own like put on their coat, take off their socks and shoes and line them up at the door, climb in and out of the car and car seat on their own, open, or close the door, punch in a time on the microwave and hit start. It’s always easier to do things for a toddler, but their child is eager to try and appreciates being allowed to do as much as they can on their own.
They are looking for a nanny who is engaging, encouraging, positive and can use redirection successfully. Their home is kept very tidy most of the time and so they would like the nanny to pay close attention on tidying up, wiping the dining table down, and washing dishes used for prepping or eating their meals. Engage their child in putting away their own toys before putting them away yourself. Pay close attention to how things are arranged and where they are kept. You will be assisting their child with toilet training. Negative talk does not make sense to their child since they do not use it.
They are seeking a nanny who is collaborative with the parents. If a parent is working with the child, they always appreciate their nanny picking up some tasks in the meantime.
