ABOUT THE FAMILY:
This family of three values quality time together and cherishes both shared experiences and individual growth. They love exploring their new neighborhood in Sellwood and getting outside in all kinds of weather!
Mom is a stay-at-home parent who is organized, supportive, and creative, fostering a nurturing and stimulating environment for their child. Dad is a warm and extroverted music lover, balancing his work schedule with family time in the evenings. He mostly works in an office downtown but occasionally works from home.
Their 18-month-old child is a sweet, energetic, inquisitive, and silly toddler with a sunny disposition—thanks in part to being a great sleeper! They love reading, music, running around, playing with toys, and spending time outside. Mealtimes are fun and pressure-free, guided by the parents’ Kids Eat In Color/Feeding Littles-inspired approach, which has helped this little one become a happy and adventurous eater.
While Mom is in and out during the day, and Dad sometimes works from home, they deeply value the role of a nanny in their home—someone who will become an extension of their family even if for a short time, supporting their child’s development with patience, creativity, and care.
They are an LGBTQIA+ affirming family and welcome all applicants who share their values of inclusivity, respect, and kindness.
If you’re looking for a warm, engaging, and supportive family to work for as a temp nanny, they would love to meet you!
THEIR IDEAL NANNY:
• You are committed to the schedule set for the entirety of this temporary contract. *Note: There is a set schedule that has been provided with some room for possible flexibility. All changes will be agreed upon and made between the nanny and family prior to signing an agreement.
• You are upbeat and reliable, bringing a positive, steady presence to their home each day. You are playful and engaging while also being diligent, organized, and proactive in creating a structured, nurturing environment for their child.
• You are an experienced toddler caregiver, with multiple years of professional experience, strong references, and current CPR and first aid certification (including child). You are confident in managing daily routines, from feeding and bathing to sleep and potty training, while fostering independence and curiosity.
• You are committed to health and safety, staying up to date on vaccinations, including the latest COVID, flu, Tdap, and varicella shots at least two weeks before employment. You adhere to safe sleep practices and prioritize a clean, hygienic environment for their child.
• You are fragrance-free, understanding that both their child and a parent are highly sensitive to scents. You arrive ready to work without perfumes, strong lotions, or other scented products.
• You are comfortable with active transportation, taking their child on stroller walks or, if experienced and confident, using their family e-bike for outings. You enjoy outdoor play, neighborhood walks, and trips to the playground or music class.
• You embrace a gentle, respectful parenting approach, aligning with Dr. Becky Kennedy’s “Good Inside” philosophy. You see behavior challenges as learning opportunities, using empathy, sturdy leadership, and skill-building rather than punishment. You help their child navigate emotions by staying connected, using clear communication, and providing safe alternatives for expressing frustration.
• You are proactive in maintaining an organized environment, keeping child-related areas tidy, ensuring supplies are stocked, and handling light household tasks related to their child (meal prep, laundry, toy sanitization, and basic cleanup after activities). While deep cleaning is not expected, you manage the day-to-day upkeep needed to keep their home running smoothly.
• You are a thoughtful communicator, keeping the parents updated through the Baby Tracker app and daily verbal check-ins. You proactively let them know if supplies are low, household items need attention, or anything requires their awareness.
• You are creative and engaging, filling their child’s day with meaningful play, conversation, and skill-building. You read together, narrate daily activities, introduce art and sensory play, and encourage curiosity. You help create enriching experiences that supports their child’s development while keeping their world fun and exciting.
If you’re a dedicated, kind, and knowledgeable nanny looking for a family that values communication, collaboration, and respect, please consider applying.
