ABOUT THE FAMILY:
This family is your typical busy family of two school-aged children–and a baby (no pets)! They are active and social with school, work, volunteer, and scheduled activities, yet also appreciate peaceful down time. They feel strongly about leading their life with a sense of always doing the kind thing to everyone. A part-time nanny will assist the family in maintaining the sense of balance they have worked so hard to create.
Mom has just moved into her new role “staying at home” for the first time in 18 years and has found that she is far busier than expected. She is active and thoughtful as a school volunteer and has many social interests. She loves being a mother and enjoys participating in the children’s activities and taking the baby to her classes.
Dad works outside of the home. He is described as very sociable, smart, ambitious, but most of all, a good dad. When he’s not at work, he’s all in and spending time with his family.
The oldest child, 7, is full of energy and very sociable, and is described as loyal and giving. Friendships really matter to this child. Diagnosed with ADHD, this child benefits from a kind, yet direct approach.
The middle child, 5, is also full of energy. They enjoy imaginary play, are pretty “go with the flow” and love to make people laugh. This child benefits from an approach of patience and understanding as they are sensitive to what they wear and, although they enjoy school, they are sometimes nervous about it, too.
The baby, 14 months, is described as “the easiest baby on the planet”. They are observant and like to sing and vocalize. They are happy, smiley, and like eating, sleeping, and their siblings.
THEIR IDEAL NANNY:
Your superpower: you have an engaging personality, are creative, AND can occupy all 3 children in some sort of fun activity at once…at least most of the time!
You are a nanny who is both kind and sincere, yet you exude confidence and are comfortable in setting firm boundaries. You recognize that with three children, being flexible and able to “pivot” is a necessary skill. You also like to play indoors and out and discover new and creative ideas for activities to keep the children entertained and engaged.
Your primary responsibility, of course, is to maintain the children’s safety, all while helping them establish routines such as having them help clean up after meals, an activity or play. Caring for their baby will require you to have knowledge and professional experience in infant and toddler safety, feeding, general development and care, as well as age-appropriate toys and play.
Initially you would not be required to transport the children, but you may be expected to later as part of your employment. The family would appreciate you preparing nutritious meals for the children and baby food for the infant, maintaining the children’s laundry, organizing and cycling the kids’ toys, including cleaning the baby’s toys, and suggesting kid’s activities, local kid’s events/classes, and toys/supplies at age appropriate levels and other standard nanny responsibilities.
The family is interested in discussing with their potential nanny the option of utilizing you as their trusted person to provide 2-3 days of around the clock care 2-3 times per year to their children while they travel out of town. An overnight stipend and hourly compensation would be addressed in the work agreement. There may decide in the future to invite you to travel with them as their nanny. Please be ready to discuss these added services if you apply and are interviewed.
Lastly, you are a nanny who is loving, dependable, and loyal. You are committed to your job and love what you do. This family gives what they get and want to find THE nanny for their family.
SCHEDULING NOTE: The family recognizes that working every Saturday is not sustainable for any nanny. They are willing to be flexible and work with their nanny to accommodate the need/request for a full weekend off each month and adjust working hours accordingly.
