ABOUT THE FAMILY:
This loving repeat WCBC St. Johns area family adores their toddler but needs to get some work done! They truly value having a nanny as a part of their support system until their child is ready for preschool.
Dad works from home only on Mondays and Fridays and is described as a “tech guru” while Mom works as a part-time elementary educator. Both are compassionate and loving, and value providing hands-on care to their child. Both parents are not only intelligent, but funny at the same time. Dad is dependable and organized. Mom is caring and nurturing.
Dad is needing surgery soon and is not supposed to be lifting the child. Mom experiences a chronic health condition that may leave her fatigued and in pain. Having a compassionate, empathetic nanny will be important as they navigate their personal health needs while living with a toddler.
Their child is your typical 2-year-old: inquisitive, energetic, silly and sometimes “opinionated”. They are described as easygoing, but also chatty and on-the move. They love trips to the park and playing at the local indoor play space. They like rocket ships, books, and lately…sheep. There is a consideration that they may be experiencing neurodivergent symptoms; however, they are on the waitlist for diagnostic testing. Their child is not yet potty trained and has not shown readiness to do so.
The family has a 10-year-old mini dachshund who thinks toddlers are A LOT but is very sweet, lazy and a bit barky. They are pretty patient with the toddler and always looking for their next snack!
THEIR IDEAL NANNY:
You are energetic and creative, able to keep up with a 2-year old’s pace! You, too, are ready to dive into their latest interest and cultivate new activities that pertain to the “interest of the week”.
You are empathetic and patient, ready to maneuver through each day with a 2-year-old as they discover new boundaries and changes need made and explained or things need removed and attention needs redirected. You are comfortable guiding a toddler to use their words and “soft hands”. You follow the parents’ lead with gentle parenting that is not super permissive. You are comfortable with navigating potty training when the time comes and the patience, compassion and routine it will entail.
You are adventurous and silly, and not afraid of a little rain! With parks and an indoor play place within walking distance, you’re willing to get outside with a 2-year-old for some fresh air and a walk–rain or shine!
You are punctual (that means a few minutes early!) and reliable. Their child will look forward to your arrival…and so will the parents!
You are comfortable with mom’s engagement with their child while you’re on shift and a self-starter willing to fill your time with child related tasks during those moments. Mom mentioned that “sometimes it’s nice to just be able to play and not be the care provider while the nanny is here”. You recognize that fostering the child’s relationship with their parents is an integral part of your job as their nanny.
You’re happy to provide support in managing the child’s laundry and dishes, tidying and organizing toys and play spaces. You will also ensure that the child is supervised and following rules at the local indoor play place. You will also always ensure the child’s safety while playing at the local park.
You will eventually drive the child to local classes within the Portland Metro area. The family will not have a vehicle available for you to use, so you must be willing to drive the child in your vehicle. A parent will install the car seat for outings. A copy of your driving record must be on file with WCBC at time of hire for this position.
OTHER DETAILS TO NOTE:
–You must be up to date with ALL vaccinations: MMR, Polio, Tetanus, Pertussis, Current Flu Vaccine, and Covid 19 +boosters due to Mom’s health.
– If you have a nut allergy, this job is NOT for you! This child LOVES peanut butter and eats a lot of it!
– You will not be responsible for dog care but must be comfortable with a dog being present in the home and managing a toddler with a dog.
Lastly, this family is loyal, respectful, and generous with their nannies. They are looking for a nanny who is loyal, respectful, and committed to their family.
